pop up

Working on pop up designs I thought about how I could combine both a kiss and a punch together. Above show some interlocking designs from popupology that I would like to try out myself and further experiment with.

funfair #2

pick me up

I went along to the pick me up exhibition yesterday, above are some of my personal highlights from the exhibition. I actually found quite a few pieces that related to the funfair along with other works that caught my eye. I also saw the Punch and Judy sign which I'm surprised I didn't think about before. It combines domestic abuse and the funfair together so in this case it is a perfect example of something I aim to achieve.

funfair #1

I really wanted to go to a funfair myself instead of relying on photos online. I wanted to experience the atmosphere and hoped that the whole experience would inspire me greatly. The project has been slow to start with the first funfair I visited not even being there despite being advertised everywhere online. I then read about another local funfair, shown above however as great as it was it was obviously a child's funfair. It lacked bigger rides with the graphics I was looking for aswell as a carousel. From here I plan on going further afield to another funfair in the search for a greater selection of rides and the all important carousel.

H

Following on from our lino printing project we were asked to redesign a letter from the font Alpha Slab in pairs. We were encouraged to work with CYM, overlaying colour, exploring both digital and prints. Above are highlights from our project showing two different paths of interest. After addressing the main part of the brief through a one day workshop we used the rest of the week to expand in any direction we wished. From here we aim to continue working on the project creating prints from our geometric alphabet.
